Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent houses with the help of homeowner families. These factors allow Lorain County HfH offer 0% interest on the mortgages to our families.
From 1989 to 2007 we have built 35 houses throughout the county. For the past three years we have strived to build at least three homes per year. Habitat is not a give away program. In addition to a down payment and a monthly mortgage payment, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor—sweat equity—into building their Habitat home.
